I pretty much hate WordPress, so I’m going to take advantage of my Google account and move over to http://musingsofahomeschooledgirl.blogspot.com/. Thanks for reading, see ya over there!
It’s been so long since I’ve written! I’ve been taking a summer class online called Life Management Skills. It’s basically just so I can get some health credit. I’ve looked at so many homeschool curricula… We decided on an online school called VLACS. It just didn’t seem right though. Then I got this wonderful idea…. Maybe I should spend some extra time praying about it before I looked through more websites and curriculum samples. I did, and then I started looking again. When I looked at Abeka Book’s website, I knew it was perfect since I really want to go to Pensacola Christian College which is affiliated with it. The only problem was, my parents want me to do an accredited program. After about 3 minutes of looking on the website, I found that they have an accredited program called Abeka Academy. After a little convincing of my parents and a lot of prayer, I’m signing up. They sent videos of an actual classroom, textbooks, and lesson plans. I just have to sent in my grades and tests, and I’ll get an accredited diploma! I’ve been addicted to Instagram, Eyeem, my Bible app, and Pinterest this summer! I’m helping at VBS at my church in two weeks, and my birthday is next week! I can’t wait to see what God has in store for the rest of the summer!
Hey! Last week I went on a mission trip with some people from my school. We’re all in missions club together. We mostly worked at soup kitchens, but we also did children’s ministries at shelters and we visited a retirement home. We went to the famous Brooklyn Tabernacle for church on Sunday! It was beautiful! My favorite memory from the week was talking to Jamal, a 12 year old boy from a domestic violence shelter. I noticed that he separated himself from the group, but I really didn’t want to talk to him because I was nervous. It was only in Monday, so it was the 3rd ministry that we went to. I didn’t have much experience yet. I’m really shy! I felt a nudge to go over to him, but I said “send Matt instead, he’s way better at this than I am!” Matt is a senior and this was his second mission trip to NYC. Anyway, I just started walking. I didn’t know what I was doing, but suddenly I was sitting next to this rather large (in a scary inner city way) boy. I started by asking basic questions about his life such as school etc… Soon I asked about his faith. That lead to a really great conversation! His mom came back to Christ that night as well, under the guidance of a few of my leaders. It was such a powerful night! I chose 2 Timothy 1:7 as my personal theme verse for this trip. I have so many great memories from this trip, and it inspired me to go on many more!
I posted earlier this year that I wanted to get a new purity ring… Well I got one at The Revolve Tour a few weeks ago. It says “Love Waits”. I love it! A few of my friends got matching ones. I read “Before You Meet Prince Charming” by Sarah Mally two summers ago, and that’s what started my commitment to purity. Then my mom and I went on a retreat called “Passport to Purity”. Now here I am with a new ring and a renewed commitment to purity. I believe that this is the most important commitment anyone can make in their life.
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. -1 Timothy 4:12
